Obverse description Lion standing right in profile, head lowered and turned back to lick its raised forepaw, rendered in a bold archaic style characteristic of Cypriot coinage. A double-axe (labrys) appears in the upper field above the lion's back, while a floral ornament occupies the lower field beneath the animal. The overall composition is contained within a square incuse punch, typical of early Cypriot silver issues. The lion's musculature and mane are depicted with careful detail, reflecting the artistic conventions of the early Classical period.
