| Reverse description | A long voided cross extends to the inner beaded circle, dividing the field into four quarters, each containing three pellets arranged in a triangular grouping. This reverse design is a direct imitation of the English penny sterling type, following the reform coinage of Edward I. The legend is distributed across the four segments of the outer border. The strike is somewhat weak in areas, consistent with the irregular flan and hand-hammered production technique of the period. |
