| Obverse description | Hammered gold flan bearing a multi-line Arabic legend in bold thuluth script within a dotted border. The upper field contains the ruler's name and titles, reading 'Sultan Ahmed bin Mehmed Khan, may he be victorious.' A horizontal dividing line separates the upper inscription from the lower field, which bears the mint name 'Damascus' (دمشق) and the AH date 1012, the latter rendered in Eastern Arabic numerals at the bottom of the flan. |
