Reverse description The reverse displays a multi-line Arabic legend arranged in horizontal registers within a plain linear border, presenting the royal titles and epithets of Sultan Mehmed IV in the conventional Ottoman sultani format. A dotted border frames the outer edge of the die area. The calligraphy is bold and characteristic of North African Ottoman provincial mint production, with the field tightly filled with deeply impressed text. The irregular flan edge is consistent with hand-hammered manufacture.
