Tigranes III ruled as a Roman client king, installed by Augustus following the long dynastic turbulence that had consumed the Armenian throne after the death of Tigranes the Great. His bronze coinage is sparse and poorly documented — Kovacs 174 represents one of the few attributed types for this reign, and die studies remain incomplete.
