Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, a crowned coat of arms displaying the quartered arms of the Grimaldi and Valdetare families, surmounted by a princely crown. The heraldic shield occupies the central field, executed in the baroque style characteristic of seventeenth-century Monegasque coinage. The surrounding legend in Latin is divided by pellets and reads HONORA: II. D:G: (28) PRI: MONOECI, identifying the issuer as Honoré II, Prince of Monaco, by the grace of God, with the denomination value 28 indicated within the legend.
