| Reverse description | Central design featuring a cross potent or Victory cross set within a beaded or dotted inner circle, imitating late Roman and Byzantine reverse types. The cross is rendered schematically in the barbaric Suebi tradition, surrounded by a circular legend reading IONIOϽ, a degenerate rendering of CONSTANTINOPOLIS OBRYZUM, attesting to the Byzantine inspirational prototype. The coin's reverse is struck on an irregular flan with characteristic uneven edges and a plain, flat field. The overall composition reflects the Suebi monetary workshop's adaptation of imperial Byzantine tremissis iconography during the final years of the kingdom. |
