Obverse description Highly stylized frontal bust of the king rendered in the degenerate late Visigothic manner, with a beaded diadem or circlet indicated by a beaded arc surmounting the head. The facial features are schematically rendered with two pellets for eyes and a broad nose. Below the bust, a highly abstracted cruciform or ladder-like motif representing the royal vestments or paludamentum. The legend + LEVVA RE surrounds the central device, with individual letters distributed around the field in the characteristic Visigothic arrangement. A cross pattée appears at the top of the field, and a beaded inner border frames the design.
