Additional information

Recaredo I converted the Visigothic kingdom from Arianism to Nicene Christianity at the Third Council of Toledo in 589, a political realignment with consequences far beyond theology — it consolidated royal authority with the Catholic episcopate and effectively ended decades of sectarian conflict with the Hispano-Roman population. The Cordoba mint was one of a handful of active Visigothic gold-issuing centers in the south, a region the kingdom held with less administrative certainty than Toledo or Mérida.

Pliego 100 places this emission squarely within his pre-589 to 601 reign span, with no further subdivision by regnal phase currently established for this mint.
