| Obverse description | Schematized frontal bust of the king in the central field, rendered in a highly stylized late antique manner characteristic of Visigothic coinage, with a beaded or roped neckline and simplified facial features. Tulga ruled the Visigothic Kingdom for roughly three years before being deposed and forcibly tonsured by Chindasuinth in 642 — a ecclesiastical humiliation designed to permanently disqualify him from kingship under Visigothic law. His coinage is correspondingly scarce, with Barbi among the rarer mint attributions of his already short reign.
