(Translation: Aphilas, King [...])
Reverse description Draped bust of King Aphilas facing right, wearing a headcloth ornamented on the front and terminating in a triangular ribbon behind, the right hand holding a whisk or fly-whisk as a symbol of authority. The effigy is similarly flanked on each side by a grain stalk in the field. Above the bust, a pellet upon a crescent divides the encircling Greek legend. The border consists of a ring of dots, a simpler treatment than the obverse surround, typical of the reverse design conventions of early Aksumite gold issues.
