JP TE Nikola Tesla in Obrenovac is one of the largest coal-fired power complexes in the Balkans, supplying a substantial share of Serbia's electricity from its position on the Sava River southwest of Belgrade. Like many large Yugoslav-era state enterprises, it operated its own internal welfare infrastructure — canteen systems, worker housing, and coupon-based meal allocation were routine features of socialist industrial management and persisted well into the post-Yugoslav period.
These meal coupons functioned as a closed scrip, redeemable only at the plant's own catering facilities. Not monetary instruments in any formal sense, but collectible precisely because they document a parallel economy of entitlement that official currency never touched.
