Obverse description The obverse displays the elaborate tughra of Sultan Mahmud I prominently occupying the upper portion of the field, rendered in fine calligraphic style with characteristic sweeping loops and interlaced strokes. Below the tughra, a horizontal dividing line separates the mint name and additional Arabic inscriptions in the lower field. The word 'Misr' (Egypt), denoting the mint, appears in the lower register alongside further Arabic legends. The coin's edge shows a fine milled or grained border encircling the design.
