Gorafe is a small municipality in the province of Granada, and like hundreds of Spanish towns it issued its own fractional emergency currency during the Civil War — the Republican government's decree of 1937 authorizing local bodies to produce small-denomination notes was the direct cause of this proliferation. The Caja Municipal issues from villages like Gorafe are among the hardest to trace precisely because production was entirely local, often improvised, and records were rarely kept or were destroyed afterward.

The absent Gari-Montserrat reference number suggests this piece either postdates the main catalog sweep or was unknown to the compilers at the time of publication.
