EuroSouvenir notes occupy a strange niche — legal in format but worthless by design, produced under license from the European Central Bank and sold as collectibles. Oberthur Fiduciaire, one of the major security printers behind actual euro banknotes, produces these, which gives them genuine technical credibility even if their monetary value is precisely zero.
The Douro Vinhateiro refers to the Alto Douro Wine Region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001 and one of the oldest demarcated wine regions in the world, predating the 1756 Marquis of Pombal designation by several centuries in viticultural practice.
