The 0 Euro souvenir note program was formalized through an agreement between Euro Impressions and the Banque de France in 2015, with Oberthur Fiduciaire as one of the authorized printers — meaning these pieces meet genuine banknote production standards despite having no monetary function whatsoever. Legal tender status was never the point. The program essentially licenses the visual grammar of the euro series for the tourism market, and by 2019 hundreds of individual designs had been issued across European sites.
This is the second Ponte Vecchio issue, distinguishable from the 2015 inaugural print by a revised design registered under the EuroSouvenir catalog. The hologram strip is identical in specification to those used on circulating euro notes from the same printer.
