The 0 Euro souvenir note program, administered by Euro Souvenir under license from the European Central Bank, launched in 2015 and has since issued hundreds of collector pieces tied to cultural figures and tourist sites. Oberthur Fiduciaire prints the series using the same security substrate and intaglio techniques applied to genuine euro banknotes — a deliberate choice that gives the notes tactile credibility despite their face value of nothing.
Freddie Mercury died in November 1991, thirty years before this note's issue date. The timing was not accidental.
