The EuroSouvenir 0 Euro program, administered through licensed agreements with cultural institutions and official bodies, has issued hundreds of these collector pieces since the concept launched around 2015. Oberthur Fiduciaire produces them to genuine banknote specification — security paper, intaglio printing, microtext — which gives them a tactile credibility that most souvenir currency lacks entirely.
The Royal Netherlands Air Force edition falls within a broader wave of military-themed issues that proved especially popular with veteran and aviation collector communities. Zero-euro notes carry no legal tender status anywhere, but Dutch law does not prohibit their production or sale, and the RNLAF's institutional endorsement was required before this note could be released.
