EuroSouvenir notes are a collector-facing series issued under license from the European Central Bank, which permits the production of zero-denomination pieces that replicate euro security features — including genuine Oberthur-printed paper — while remaining legally outside the monetary system. Oberthur Fiduciaire, one of the major European security printers with deep roots in French banknote production, brings the same substrate and printing discipline used on circulating issues.
Sigüenza is a small Castilian city in Guadalajara province, best known for its Romanesque-Gothic cathedral and a well-preserved medieval quarter that earned it the informal title of "ciudad del románico." The souvenir note was produced for the local tourist trade in 2019.
