The souvenir zero-euro note is a curious commercial phenomenon that the European Souvenir Banknote Association has turned into a minor industry since around 2015. These notes are printed by Oberthur Fiduciaire to genuine banknote specification — proper security paper, embedded strip, UV features — which is precisely the point: they are legally zero value, so they fall outside currency law, yet they are materially indistinguishable from circulating notes in terms of production quality.

Venice is among the most issued subjects in the series, with multiple designs already in circulation from different licensed sellers across the city.
