Beschrijving voorzijde Green guilloche underprint in the standard Memo Euro format, with the large denomination zero at upper centre rendered in fine intaglio-style line work, flanked at left by the EU flag vignette and a six-digit serial number. The central vignette presents a portrait bust of Hugo de Groot (Grotius, 1583–1645) at left, accompanied by a historical scene of figures in 17th-century dress set within a stone fortress interior, evoking his escape from Loevestein Castle. Ancillary elements include the ON/AD Delft cartouche, the Euroscope shield device at lower right, a facsimile signature reading 'H. Grotius', and the inscription OUDE EN NIEUWE KERK DELFT – GODSHUIZEN SINDS 1246 at lower left.

Opmerkingen

Hugo de Groot — Grotius — was born in Delft in 1583, and his connections to the Oude Kerk there run deep: he was baptized in it, and his father was a burgomaster closely tied to the city's institutions. This commemorative zero-denomination piece was issued jointly by Euro Scope and the two historic Delft churches as a collector souvenir, carrying no monetary function whatsoever.

Enschedé's involvement is worth noting — the Haarlem firm has been producing security printing since 1703 and handled Dutch banknote production for decades, lending this memo piece a technical credibility that cheaper souvenir issues rarely have.
