Opmerkingen

Euroscope BV produced these souvenir "Memo Euro" pieces as tourist novelties, sold at Dutch attractions rather than issued through any banking authority. Kinderdijk — the UNESCO-listed windmill complex in South Holland — has been a major draw since its 1997 inscription, and the site's gift infrastructure naturally absorbed collectibles of this kind. The zero denomination is deliberate: Dutch consumer law prohibits privately issued instruments that could be mistaken for legal tender, so the face value is printed as a statement of non-negotiability rather than an oversight.

Enschedé's involvement is the one detail worth pausing on. The Haarlem firm has printed currency for over a dozen sovereign nations and holds a long relationship with De Nederlandsche Bank. Bringing that production pedigree to a souvenir piece is unusual, and the paper and print quality reflect it.
