Ich weiss nicht, was soll es bedeuten,
Dass ich so traurig bin?
Ein Märchen aus alten Zeiten
Das kommt mir nicht aus dem Sinn.
(Translation: I don't know what it means
That I'm so sad?
A fairy tale from ancient times
I can't get that out of my mind.)

EURoscope GmbH produced this "0 Euro" souvenir note for the Loreley tourist site on the Rhine — part of a broader European trend of zero-denomination collector pieces that began gaining serious traction around 2015. These are legal-looking but explicitly non-legal-tender items, sold directly to tourists as keepsakes rather than entering any payment system.

Printed by Enschedé in Haarlem, which has produced genuine banknotes since the early eighteenth century, the production quality is deliberately close to the real thing — the same security paper, intaglio printing techniques, and anti-counterfeiting features used on circulating euro notes.
