The BCEAO 1000 Francs series ran across more than a decade, with one signature pairing worth particular attention: Alassane Ouattara served as BCEAO Governor from 1988 to 1990, then left to join the IMF before becoming Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire — his name appears on the earliest dates here precisely during that transitional window. The 1994 date coincides with the CFA franc devaluation of January that year, the first since 1948, when the peg to the French franc was halved overnight, instantly doubling import prices across eight member states.

Charles Konan Banny, whose signature dominates the later dates, served as BCEAO Governor until 2005 before becoming Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire during the post-civil war transition period.
