1/10 Onza 'Libertad'

The Libertad series launched in 1982 as Mexico's answer to the Krugerrand and Maple Leaf, giving the Mexican Mint a bullion product competitive in international precious metals markets. The tenth-ounce denomination was added later and has always occupied an awkward commercial position — too small for serious stackers, too bullion-oriented for most collectors — yet it has survived every peso crisis and mint reorganization since.

Dies for the series are produced entirely in-house at the Mexico City facility, one of the oldest continuously operating mints in the Western Hemisphere, having struck coin since 1535.
