Obverse description The central device features the Nicaraguan national coat of arms: an equilateral triangle enclosing five volcanoes rising from the sea, surmounted by a radiant sun and a Phrygian cap above a rainbow, all within a plain inner border. The curved legend REPUBLICA DE NICARAGUA arcs around the upper periphery, while the four-digit date appears in the exergual area below the triangle. A continuous beaded border frames the entire obverse field.

Reverse description The denomination is expressed in four lines of bold serif lettering — MEDIO / CENTAVO / DE / CÓRDOBA — occupying the central field. The legend is enclosed within a wreath composed of two symmetrical laurel-and-flower branches tied at the base with a decorative bow, with small floral rosettes punctuating the interior at regular intervals. A beaded border runs continuously around the rim.
