Pattern coins issued by the Central Bank of Jordan in the late 1990s were part of a broader regional push to evaluate bimetallic technology before committing to production runs — the same clad-ring construction was being adopted across the Middle East as security against counterfeiting and to reduce long-term minting costs. This particular piece never advanced to circulation; Jordan ultimately issued bimetallic coinage in other denominations while the half-dinar remained outside the adopted series.
KM#Pn20 exists in extremely limited numbers, distributed primarily to mint officials and pattern archives.
