Fiji has no meaningful connection to the Hubble Space Telescope — the issuing authority here is purely nominal, a sovereign lending its name to a bullion and collector product underwritten by a private minting house. The Hubble was launched in April 1990 aboard Space Shuttle Discovery, and its early years were marred by a flawed primary mirror that required a 1993 servicing mission to correct, a repair conducted in orbit by astronauts over five spacewalks.
Titanium was chosen for its distinctive surface coloring potential under heat treatment, not for any connection to aerospace metallurgy. The KM reference places this firmly in the modern commemorative-for-export category.
