Fiji's wartime halfpenny issues of 1940–41 were produced under conditions shaped directly by the Pacific theatre. With Japanese expansion threatening supply lines, the Colonial authorities prioritized maintaining small-denomination circulation despite metal shortages affecting mints across the British Empire. The copper-nickel composition here distinguishes these pieces from the bronze halfpennies common elsewhere in the colonial series.
KM#14 was struck at the Royal Mint, London. The 1941 date is considerably harder to locate than 1940.
