背面描述 The reverse field is largely plain and heavily worn, with a partial beaded border visible along the upper rim. Prominently incised in the centre are the cursive script initials JB, rendered in a flowing hand-engraved style typical of merchant tokens of the period, likely identifying the issuing tradesman or warehouse proprietor. The field surrounding the monogram is flat and unadorned, and the overall workmanship reflects a privately produced emergency piece rather than an officially struck coin.

附加信息

Nova Scotia's chronic shortage of small change in the 1830s created an opening for private and semi-official token issuers to flood local commerce with halfpenny-sized copper. This piece is among the imitation tokens produced to circulate alongside — and often in place of — officially sanctioned provincial copper, their acceptance dependent entirely on merchant confidence rather than any government guarantee.

The CCT BL-31 attribution places it within the Breton-Lees classification of anonymous warehouse tokens, the script initials suggesting a specific merchant or storage house operation that has not been definitively identified.
