Obverse description The Honduran national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a volcanic landscape with two sailing ships flanking a fortified promontory, surmounted by a triangular cartouche enclosing a rainbow over two towers. The arms are draped with an elaborate swag of cloth tied at the base. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS is inscribed along the upper periphery and AMERICA CENTRAL along the lower, both separated by a beaded inner border. The engraver's signature BARRE appears in the lower exergue, flanked by two small ornamental devices.
