Reverse description A stag, the national emblem of Mauritius, stands in profile facing left atop a straight ground line, rendered in fine detail by George Kruger Gray, whose initials KG appear in the lower left field. The legend MAURITIUS and HALF RUPEE arcs around the upper periphery in two separated segments divided by raised dots. The date 1934 appears in the exergue below the ground line, with a beaded border encircling the entire design.
