Year 4 bronzes of the Jewish revolt are among the rarest dated issues of the series — by 69–70 CE, Roman forces under Vespasian and then Titus had strangled Jerusalem's supply chains, and the besieged mint was operating under conditions of active siege warfare. Most Year 4 coins show signs of hasty striking, consistent with a population melting whatever metal remained available. The revolt ended with the destruction of the Temple in August 70 CE, making this issue effectively the last coinage of an independent Judean polity for over eighteen centuries.
