| Obverse description | Central field bears the Sultan's name and titles arranged in four lines of Arabic script. The legend reads 'Sultan of the Two Lands and the Two Seas, Sultan Abd al-Hamid Khan, may his victory be glorified.' The lettering is rendered in a characteristic Ottoman tughra-influenced style. The coin shows a beaded or dotted border encircling the inscriptions, typical of Tunisian Ottoman coinage of this period. The flan exhibits the irregular characteristics associated with a contemporary counterfeit production. |
