| Obverse description | The coat of arms of the Republic of Panama occupies the central field, flanked by the national shield displaying a sword, rifle, cornucopia, and fasces within a quartered escutcheon, surmounted by an eagle with outstretched wings. Nine stars arranged in an arc above the arms represent the nine provinces extant at the time of issue.
