Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King George III facing right, with ribbon ties visible at the back of the laurel wreath. The truncation bears the engraver's initial 'W' for Thomas Wyon the Younger. The effigy is rendered in a classical Roman style with a draped mantle secured at the shoulder. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the circular legend reading 'GEORGIUS III D:G: BRITANNIARUM REX' around the periphery.

Reverse description The denomination '1/4' in large numerals occupies the centre of the field, surmounted by a heraldic crown.
