| Obverse description | Facing head of Janus, rendered in archaic Etruscan style, with two opposed facing busts joined at the neck, each displaying coarse facial features characteristic of early central Italian bronze coinage. The surfaces exhibit heavy green patination consistent with extended burial, and the flan is notably thick and irregular, typical of the heavy cast aes grave tradition. The design occupies the full breadth of the broad, roughly circular flan. |
