The characters appear to the left and right of the square perforation in the customary arrangement for Qing cash coinage. Relief is weak and definition poor, reflecting the crude casting quality characteristic of a privately produced imitation. The plain, undecorated field and irregular rim further attest to non-official manufacture. |
