| 备注 |
Market Basket was a regional supermarket chain operating in New England, and like many grocers of the mid-twentieth century, it issued small-denomination paper scrip to handle fractional change — a practical workaround when coin shortages made exact-change transactions cumbersome. Worcester-issued store scrip of this type was redeemable only at the issuing location, giving it no broader monetary standing.
Paper cent scrip from New England grocers survives poorly; most was redeemed quickly or discarded. Worcester examples are among the harder regional issues to find intact.
