Reverse description Four large Chinese characters arranged in quadrants around a central round perforation, reading 百一之分 (one hundredth), enclosed within an inner beaded circle. The French colonial legend INDO-CHINE FRANÇAISE arcs around the upper periphery, while the date 1901 appears in the lower exergue, all contained within an outer beaded border. The overall design is bold and uncluttered, with the central hole a defining feature of the planchet.
