Obverse description The obverse features an allegorical seated figure of the French Republic, rendered in the classical style by engraver Jean-Baptiste Daniel Dupuis, surrounded by the denomination and republican legend. The inscription REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE arcs along the upper periphery, with the denomination 1 CENT appearing prominently in the field. The Paris mint mark 'A' is situated in the exergue below the central design, and the whole is bordered by a beaded inner circle and a plain outer rim.
