| Opmerkingen |
PDQ (which stood for "Pretty Darn Quick") was a Wisconsin-based convenience store chain that issued small-denomination paper scrip for promotional or change-making purposes — a practice that flourished among regional retailers in the mid-twentieth century before federal scrutiny of private scrip tightened. La Crosse was one of the chain's operating markets. These pieces circulated within a closed loop: accepted only at PDQ locations and redeemable only against purchases, which kept them off the general money supply but made them functionally useful in high-turnover retail settings.
Survival rate is low. Most were spent, discarded, or quietly pulled when the promotion ended.
