| 正面描述 | The obverse displays the national coat of arms of Belize centered in the field, flanked by two mestizo supporters — a woodcutter to the left holding an axe and a sailor to the right holding an oar — each standing upon a ribbon scroll bearing the motto SUB UMBRA FLOREO. The shield depicts crossed woodcutting tools above a sailing vessel upon water, surmounted by a mahogany tree. The entire arms device is encircled by a wreath of olive branches, with the country name BELIZE arching along the upper legend and the date of issue appearing in the lower field. A continuous beaded border frames the design within the scalloped flan. |

Belize issued this silver striking of the circulation cent design as part of a broader proof and collector series produced in the early years following independence from Britain in 1981. The swallow-tailed kite had appeared on Belizean coinage since the transition from British Honduras, carrying over a design lineage that predates the country's formal existence as a sovereign state.
KM#83a is the silver variant of the base-metal circulation type, struck specifically for collector sets rather than general release.
