| 备注 |
Castro Marim is a small Algarve municipality at Portugal's southeastern tip, and like dozens of Portuguese câmaras municipais, it resorted to issuing its own low-denomination paper cédulas during the severe coin shortage that gripped the country from roughly 1917 onward. The national government's inability to maintain adequate bronze and cupro-nickel coinage in circulation forced local authorities — town councils, commercial associations, even individual merchants — to fill the gap themselves. These municipal emissions had no formal backing beyond local trust and were typically redeemed, then destroyed, once coinage returned.
Castro Marim's issues are among the less frequently encountered Algarve municipal notes, reflecting both the town's small population and the likely low print run.
