| Beschrijving keerzijde | Portrait effigy of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna of Russia, depicted in a formal imperial manner with elaborate dress and regalia, facing slightly to the left. The Cyrillic legend ЕЛИЗАВЕТА ПЕТРОВНА (Elizaveta Petrovna) arcs around the upper periphery of the coin. The portrait is rendered in a style reminiscent of 18th-century Imperial Russian medallic portraiture. |

The original chervonets denomination was Peter the Great's deliberate imitation of the Dutch ducat, introduced in 1701 to facilitate foreign trade on terms Western merchants would recognize. Elizabeth Petrovna ruled from 1741 to 1762, a reign notable for Russian involvement in the Seven Years' War and the founding of Moscow University. This modern gold-plated restrike trades on that historical association without the metallurgical commitment of the original issues, which ran between 916 and 986 fine gold depending on the emission year.
