Crude hammered workmanship is evident throughout, with no clearly discernible figurative or epigraphic devices surviving on this face due to advanced patination and surface degradation. The scalloped square flan perimeter is nonetheless well-defined, with evenly spaced rounded serrations along all four sides. The overall surface exhibits a thick dark cuprite patina consistent with prolonged burial. |

The serrated-square copper pieces associated with the Melayu Kingdom of Sumatra circulated during a period when the polity navigated shifting relationships with both the declining Srivijaya maritime network and expanding Javanese influence from the east. Coin production in this region was never centralized the way it was in contemporary South Asian or Chinese administrations — these pieces likely emerged from localized trade needs rather than any single royal mint apparatus.
The Zeno reference being unassigned here limits precise attribution within the known corpus of Sumatran copper issues from this period.
