The Banco Nacional de Nicaragua was itself a peculiar institution — chartered in 1912 under a concession that gave American banking interests effective control over the country's finances, a direct outgrowth of U.S. interventionist policy during the occupation years. The "Incorporated" in the English name was not incidental; the bank was legally organized under U.S. law until Nicaragua finally reacquired majority ownership in 1940, just after this series closed.

ABNC's work on Nicaraguan paper through this period is competent but unremarkable by the company's own standards. The long date range — over a decade with the same basic plates — means serial number blocks and signature combinations are the primary variables for collectors dating individual examples.
