| 表面の説明 | Centred on a multicoloured guilloche underprint in pale green and pink tones, the State arms of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam — a circular emblem comprising a five-pointed star above a cog wheel enclosed by rice stalks — forms the principal vignette. Denomination numeral "1" appears in intaglio within an ornate dark panel at left and within a sunburst medallion at right, with elaborate scroll and dragon-motif borders framing the entire design. The issuing authority inscription runs along the upper margin in Vietnamese. |

The 1976 1 Đồng was part of the first unified currency issued after reunification, replacing both the South Vietnamese đồng and the North's own issue simultaneously — a monetary reset administered by decree rather than market transition. The north-south exchange rates set during the conversion were deeply asymmetric, effectively wiping out southern savings at a ratio that caused lasting resentment.
The "Printed: 30.04.1945" field in the source data is almost certainly a cataloging error — that date predates the State Bank of Vietnam's existence by years. The note was almost certainly produced in the mid-1970s, likely by a Soviet-bloc printer.
