Iraq's 1953 dinar series was issued under the Currency Board system that had governed Iraqi money since the mandate period — the National Bank of Iraq held the name but not full central banking authority until 1956, when it was reconstituted as the Central Bank. This note sits in that transitional gap, printed by Bradbury Wilkinson at their New Malden works, a firm that handled security printing for dozens of sterling-area and former British-administered territories throughout the postwar decade.
P#34 is among the last issues before the 1958 revolution fundamentally restructured Iraqi monetary institutions.
