| 背面描述 | Green intaglio-printed reverse dominated by a large aerial vignette of the Mellègue Dam rendered in fine line engraving, with its stepped concrete face and surrounding landscape occupying the central field. The legend BANQUE CENTRALE DE TUNISIE is inscribed in two lines at upper centre above the dam scene, with the denomination UN DINAR in a rectangular panel at bottom centre. | 备注 |
Tunisia's first independent central bank notes, this series was issued in 1958, just two years after independence from France. The Banque Centrale de Tunisie had been established only in 1958 itself, replacing the note-issuing functions previously held by the Banque de l'Algérie et de la Tunisie — a colonial institution whose name alone signals who it had been designed to serve.
Bradbury Wilkinson's involvement was typical of newly independent states in this period; the New Malden firm printed currency for dozens of emerging nations that lacked domestic facilities. The watermark remains the sole mechanical security feature, modest by any measure.
